Worship Leader

Work Schedule:

5 hours per week

Senior Pastor



The mission of Cornelia UMC is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The ministry of the Worship Leader shall be consistent with the principles of the Holy Bible, and the philosophies of the United Methodist Church as outlined in the Book of Discipline. The Worship Leader shall work under the guidance of the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee and report directly to the Senior Pastor.

  • Believe in a living and loving God; proclaim Jesus as personal Savior; seek guidance and empowerment from the Holy Spirit (a background in United Methodist or Wesleyan theology is preferred).

  • Seek to live out and uphold the mission of Cornelia UMC.

  • Familiarity with multiple genres of worship music including traditional (i.e. hymns) and contemporary (i.e. praise songs, current Christian music as heard on stations like 104.7 The Fish)

  • Competent pianist

  • Demonstrate an outgoing, energetic, positive, and enthusiastic personality and exhibit strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to all age groups.

  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively plan ahead for worship with the adaptability to change the plan if necessary

  • Ability to work holidays; including but not limited to Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, and Easter

  • Participate in staff meetings and committee meetings as requested.



  • Sunday Mornings – 2 hours

    • Lead worship for the 11:00am worship service

    • Arrive early to practice, rehearse with groups or soloists, help special musicians with any needs they may have, etc.

  • Plan Worship with Pastor – 1 hour

  • Practicing, Song Selection, Weekday Rehearsal with Musical Groups, Finding Special Musicians, etc. – 2 hours

  • Any other reasonable duties assigned by the Senior Pastor or Staff Parish Relations Committee.



This job description may occasionally be updated at the discretion of the Senior Pastor and/or the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee. In the event this position is vacated, a two-week minimum advance notice is required to avoid forfeiture of pay.
