The purpose of the adult ministries of Cornelia UMC are to create opportunities for fellowship, support and spiritual growth. You are invited to join with us and other committed Christians in service, worship and study.
Adult Sunday School class descriptions:
Men’s Bible Class – a class consisting of older men. Meets in the Church Chapel and studies the International Lesson.
Wesley Bible Class – a class consisting of older ladies. Meets in the Educational Wing and studies the International Lesson.
Fellowship Class – a class consisting of couples and singles. Meets in the Educational Wing and studies short-term topics and the International Lesson.
The ministry of men in the local church is defined as a core group of men, partnering with their pastor, to invite and initiate spiritual growth opportunities for all men of the church. Everyone has different gifts, graces and areas of interest. Therefore, opportunities for participation would include diverse ministries of the church, such as prayer groups, missions, Bible studies, retreats, workshops/seminars, small groups in the Wesleyan tradition, leading and participating on committees, teaching Sunday school classes, youth ministries, scouting, mentoring and assisting in leading worship service. The focus is not inward, concentrating only on those who attend a set meeting, but outward to all men, assisting them to engage the process of spiritual growth.
DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER PARTNERS WITH CORNELIA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH TO EXPAND SERVICES
Disability Resource Center in unison with The Cornelia United Methodist Church has launched a project designed to provide assistive devices to individuals in Habersham County. Property adjacent to the church in Cornelia serves as a satellite facility and extension of DRC’s Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet. DRC, located in Gainesville, GA, is a non-profit organization committed to increasing independence, access, and equal rights for individuals with disabilities.
The Cornelia United Methodist Church Men’s Club, consisting of members from the congregation, is leading the effort that will provide items such as walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, and shower benches to residents of Habersham County. Donations and contributions are accepted in order to offer this free service of matching individuals with durable medical equipment.
DRC Board Member and Habersham County resident Dave Clark efforts have been instrumental in the concept and coordination of the project. ―The exciting opportunity to expand our Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet into an additional county in our service area will allow DRC to better serve our consumer base and the residents of HabershamCounty,‖ said Executive Director Bob McGarry.
